Letter dated 16Jul2012
[Dear family and friends, I hope this note finds you well. We enjoyed seeing our Wilson family at Nauvoo! Here is the letter we received from Weston this morning. It is always so good to hear from him.
I am hoping that I can share some more pictures next week - if he has time to send them. In the meantime, I hope everyone is well and happy.
With love, Weston's editor - BWS]
Dear Family,
Hey, sorry for last week. I just ran out of time so I couldn´t tell you anything that happened that you didn´t already know. So right now I´m going to give you the run down on everything I can think of during the past two weeks that I should let you know. Melky and Jean were baptized back on the 7th and Jean's was my favorite baptism. He was just so ready and it was amazing to see his change from the first day he came to church to the last Sunday I saw him. The first day he came he was wearing a shirt that said, ´´Sex, Drugs, And Sausage Rolls´´ but then the last Sunday he was wearing a suit and tie! I have lots of pictures to send but that´ll have to wait since the good Locotorio [internet cafe] is closed today for some reason. But I have been here on the island for about a week now and now I have a good idea of what the area will be like. The branch here is small but it´s a great group of people. We had about 25 people in church yesterday and I finally got to see more of the members which was great. My new companion, Elder Greep, had actually served here in Mallorca for his very first area in his mission. This transfer is his last and it was a surprise for him to come back to finish off his time as an Elder.
We´re whitewashing [this is the word missionaries use when two new missionaries replace two existing missionaries in an area] the area from the Sister missionaries who were here before us. One nice thing that we have here in Inca is our apartment. Sister missionaries just seem to have better homes than most of the Elders so we were lucky to get their old apartment. Here in Inca, the work is a bit slower so I´ve been doing more contacting than I have ever done in Gerona. We usually start talking to about 20 people each and every day and get to know them a little bit and give them our invitation to learn more and it's been a great experience to have been doing more of that. We have already met quite a number of people who have shown real interest and I´m excited to see what happens here in the island. One thing that suprised me is that we have a lot of mountains on the island here and it´s somewhat similar to being on the island from Lost . [This is a confusing (and pointless) television show about people lost on an island.] So far I haven´t seen any smoke monsters but I´m keep both eyes open at every moment, just in case! [There was a smoke monster on the island in the show Lost.]
May the force be with you, always,
Élder Xander Weston Schindler
P.S. I´ll try to e-mail a few more specifics next week, but I ran out of time, again! I´ll also do my best to send the photos back from Gerona. I´m excited about the blog present you made for me. I´d follow it! (^_^) if I could. Also, here is my new address so that you can send whatever you want out here to the island! From what I´ve been hearing, I might be here until winter, but we´ll find out about that I guess!
